Dutch Oven Tips
Using Your Dutch Oven
All Camp Chef dutch ovens come preseasoned and ready to use. This preseasoning process makes the dutch oven a non stick surface. You can do so much with your dutch oven. Anything you can do on your stove or in your oven, you can do in your dutch oven. You can either cook over an outdoor stove, or use charcoal briquettes.
Cleaning Your Dutch Oven
For a Cast Iron dutch oven, first you want to remove as much of the food as possible from the dutch oven. Then you will want to pour some water into the dutch oven and heat the water. Using a coarse sponge clean the sides and bottom of the dutch oven. It is very important that you DO NOT USE SOAP on your cast iron dutch ovens. This removes the preseasoning that protects it. After you have cleaned all the food off simply rinse with clean water and let it dry.
If you have an aluminum dutch oven, You can use soap and water to clean.
Maintaining Your Dutch Oven
After cleaning your dutch oven the proper way, use a rag or paper towel to add a thin layer of oil inside your dutch oven. This maintains the preseasoning and keeps your dutch oven ready and easy to use.
